Company History

The company was formed by Mr. Philip Bernard in October of 1982 under the name of Bernard Entertainment Design Inc.  Its sole function was to operate as the manufacturers’ representative for Strand Lighting. Mr. David Rawlings started with the company February 1991. His mandate was to manage Bernard Entertainment Design while Mr. Bernard pursued other business interests.  Mr. Rawlings brought with him the LiteTouch product line. 
The addition of a residential dimming and control system gave the company more depth and the ability to ideal with almost any dimming requirement.  Under Mr. Rawling's direction the company has added other Theatrical and Lighting Control product lines. A restructuring of the company took place July of 1998, whereby the name was changed to Bernard & Associates; Mr. David Rawlings became a director and along with his wife became majority shareholders of the company. The company has continued to observe it's Vision Statement of being “A Manufacturer’s Representative Company, specializing in lighting control, theatrical, and entertainment lighting specialties”.  The one change to this has been the addition of a service component which gives the company the ability to program and service the lighting control systems it sells.  These are invaluable added benefits when specifying a lighting control system.October 2008 saw the addition of Vance Beaupre, a Victoria resident, who will be responsible for looking after Bernard & Associates interests on Vancouver Island.
