Kelowna General Hospital Last week saw the commissioning of our most recent control system in the UBC facility at Kelowna General Hospital. What makes this different is that it is the first installation in BC using Philips Strand dimming, relay, and occupancy sensors linked together on a common Vision.net network. In addition the system is accepting operational commands from the buildings’ DDC and A/V systems. The common dimming system operates the lecture theatre, boardroom, and two video conferencing centres whilst the relay system controls corridor and some common office lighting. The light source is fluorescent or compact fluorescent fixtures employing Philips Mark VII ballasts being operated by Philips Strand Lighting Mark VII dimmer controller modules. The lecture theatre features high bay ceiling occupancy sensors that were remote programmed using a handheld programmer. The sensor’s tri-colour LED responded letting the programmer know that the information transfer was successful. System changes can be readily made using software.
